Email updates
What we collect. Your email address, and whether you were reading the Guide in English or Spanish. Nothing else: no name, phone number or home address.
How you're added. We email you a confirmation link first. You're added only after you click it, so no one else can sign you up.
How it's used. Only to send Guide updates and reminders about school application deadlines.
Never sold or shared. We never sell, rent or share your address. It is stored by Brevo, the email service that sends our messages.
How to unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click removes you. You can also write to us and we'll remove you: [email protected]

Visitor counts. We use Fathom Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages help. Fathom doesn't use tracking cookies or build advertising profiles. It briefly processes your IP address and browser type to produce site statistics.

The smart assistant. Questions you type are sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, so it can write an answer. We don't save your questions. Please don't type personal details you wouldn't want shared.

Keeping the assistant fair. Your browser gets a small cookie holding a random number, so each device can ask up to 20 questions a day. It contains nothing about you. Cloudflare Turnstile may also run a quick automatic check that a person, not a program, is asking. Cloudflare says it uses signals such as your IP address and browser type only to detect bots.

Address lookups. An address you enter to find zoned schools is sent to Esri's ArcGIS map service to locate it. Our server keeps only a scrambled, one-way code for the address and the matching school names, so the next lookup is faster.

Voice questions. If you use the microphone, your browser turns your speech into text. The Guide never receives or records audio.

Saved schools and language. Your saved shortlist and your language choice are kept only in your own browser.

Feedback. If you use the feedback form, your message comes to us by email. It is used only to answer you and fix the Guide.
